So you want to advertise on Facebook….. there are a few things to consider.
First: How is “posting” on Facebook different from “advertising” on Facebook and when should you do each of them?
Next: Is your target market likely to be using Facebook?
Lastly: What is the best way to reach your potential customers on Facebook? With ads in their news feed? Through video? Or with Lead generation ads?
Facebook advertising is different from other PPC channels in that it lets you interact with potential customers when they aren’t actively searching for a product or service like yours. This is good and bad. Good for you as the business trying to drum up customers, but if used incorrectly, it can be bad in that it could turn off would be customers who resent the intrusion into their personal lives. You need to tread lightly with FB ads – and be sure you respect those you are trying to reach. Sometimes with FB – less is more.
Another way that Facebook differs from Google Ads or Bing Ads is that FB users put in a lot of personal information, that you can use for targeting, that isn’t available on the other channels. For example if a FB user is visiting a place, FB knows that – and we can target those “visitors” to an area. We can also target people that have newly moved to an area, as people tend to update their location on FB. This can be particularly helpful to a company such as a dentist, landscaper or handyman that wants to get in front of new residents that don’t know the area yet.
